Dan Wrote the Foreword to My Book!

Shameless plug, yes, but I thought you all might like to know that Dan Ryckert wrote the foreword to my upcoming video game history book VIDEO GAME OF THE YEAR

Each chapter breaks down the most important game of each year from 1977 to 2022. Along with my essays it also features awesome illustrations and guest blurbs from more than 75 industry contributors, including Grubb, Alex, Austin, and Abby

That's neat! Two questions though:

1) Why is there not a game for 2021?

2) How did you decide on a game in 2022 being a defining or important given that we will have no idea on its impact for the future?

I have some differing opinions on some of the years, but overall, the list of games looks pretty solid up through 2020. I personally struggle to say that an updated edition of a game that released 9 years earlier is the most important game of 2022.

@ginormous76: Hey! So there is a 2021 chapter, but it's a little different from the rest. And without spoiling my 2022 chapter, I think I have a pretty strong argument. But also part of the fun is that you may disagree.

Hey! I saw your post online (and was also surprised to see you're a fellow duder!) I think the book is jumping off a great premise and one that can have a surprising amount of different perspectives. I'm a bit younger than most on staff and people I've followed in the industry over the years and it's fascinating to see how outlooks on certain games differ so much between generations.

Pretty cool, I'll take a look. Renowned author Dan Ryckert wouldn't put his name on just anything, right?
